Module 1. Gather Your Information

cartoon guy listeningThe very first thing to do as you begin your social media journey is to clarify your branding identity.  Who are you, what is your product or service, and why should anybody care?  Social media is nothing but a delivery mechanism for your message – so if you don’t know what that message is, trying to convey it through social media will be very frustrating for you.

We’re teaching you how to build a brand.

Without a brand, you’re a commodity. Like milk, or gas or Chinese take-out.  You get the sale if you happen to be the closest or cheapest when your customer is ready to buy.

But when you’re a brand, you stand out.  Your customers will travel for miles, and pay a premium price, just to buy from you.  Why?  Because they know you, like you and trust you.

Other things you’ll accomplish on Day 1 include:

  • complete the worksheet with all the information you need (or your assistant needs) for all 3 profiles
  • write descriptive paragraphs about yourself for all 3 profiles
  • do a casual photo shoot & create your profile pic
  • create a Gmail account just for social media

Module 2. Set up Your Profiles

The video tutorials for the second day are easy to follow, step by step instructions for how to set up your profiles.  So if you’re having an assistant do everything for you, you can just hand her the course and trust that everything will be done right.

Module 4. Start the Conversation

The magic with social media is in the conversations, and today is where we start explaining how to be a magician. We take you by the hand and tell you exactly what kinds of tweets and Facebook posts you should be making.  But simply posting random messages won’t accomplish anything.

You have to know WHAT to post.

So there is a lot of theory in today’s lesson that you’ll want to listen to yourself – then you can hand off the actual tweeting to your assistant. Use the worksheet for today, “Conversational Voice,” to facilitate that process.

Specifically, we cover:
  • How to make sure your social media efforts build relationships, and don’t become a rolling billboard
  • Best practices for bringing value to your followers – and value to yourself in return
  • How social media is all about one on one conversations – but with a megaphone attached!
  • The power of the retweet: it’s WAY more powerful than it may look at first glance
  • What exactly IS the Facebook wall; and how do you leverage it?

Module 5.

“Building your list” – although it’s easy – can be one of the biggest time suckers of the whole social media process.  If you don’t know what you’re doing, you could spend endless hours searching for people and connecting to them – and worst, if you aren’t doing Part 1 and Part 3 of the Platinum Process, those hours are all a waste of time because they’re either the wrong people who are never going to buy from you in the first place; or, they’re the right people but you turn them off with everything you do after you connect to them.
